Archibald McKellar, DSO, DFC & Bar. breaks to attack and dispatch a Dornier Do-17 on 15th Sept. 1940.Archie, a Scotsman, achieved a few notable victories while flying with 602 Squadron - the first credited with downing an enemy aircraft in British waters and also the first to shoot down a German aircraft over British soil. While flying with 605 Squadron, he shot down three He 111s in a head on attack with a single 12 second burst.On 1 November, with a tally of 21 aerial victories, McKellar was shot down and killed during a battle with Bf 109s over Adisham, Kent.
